Revolution vs. Gorilla Boy - The Best Bag for the Buck?
The Bronson Rating
I know a lot of you who have read through this are thinking “Dude, that’s great that I can carry my 14 discs, but how many root beers can I carry in these bags?” While it’s not my biggest priority, I know many of you like to carry an oat soda or two (or eight) with you, so in the interest of research, I’ll take it upon myself to see just how these rate on my utterly non-scientific and self created Bronson Scale. Now, depending on the brand of beverage, it’s bottles may be a different shape, and also some might carry cans with them, so the Bronson Scale is simply a relative reference point of approximately how many beverages one could carry. I should note that while it may be possible to squeeze more than the rating indicates, I’m going off what I consider would be practical.
Beginning with the smallest, the Spider Monkey can fit two bottles easily in its pouch, but the pocket is just a little short to zip over the tops, so if discretion is a must on your particular course, the Spider Monkey is not a good bet. At least for bottled beverages that is. The pocket is precisely big enough for 3 standard sized cans. You could squeeze a couple bottles into the bottle holder too, if you were hard up, but again, if you’re trying to be discreet, that’s not really an option.
GB Spider Monkey = 2.5 BPs (Bronson Points)
Next up is the Revo Mini. It is possible to squeeze an entire six pack of bottles into the Mini if you get creative with them (credit to Eric O on DGR for that tip). You can squeeze 3 bottles into the zippered pocket if you invert one of them, but it holds two comfortably–and the pocket it tall enough to cover the tops of the bottles if necessary. Also, due to the extra height, you can squeeze in 4 cans if you so desire. As with the Spider Monkey, you can fit extra beverages in the bottle holder, but again, this isn’t helpful if discretion is a priority. It carries slightly more than the Spider Monkey, but can fit an extra amount too, if you’re, you know, feeling impractical.
Revo Mini = 4 BPs
Moving on to the Kong, this handily fits two bottles per side pocket. Though the pockets are shorter than the bottles, you can easily zip the zipper across two bottles. You can fit 3 or 4 bottles into the pockets
without much effort, though zipping them up isn’t really an option. Cans on the other hand, fit much more conveniently and you can zip the pockets closed with 4 cans and room to spare. You do have the two bottle holders which can come into play, and also, there is still the front pocket to keep any other gear in. As I noted before, the front pocket isn’t the greatest for storage, but it is still better than nothing, especially if all your other pockets are filled.
GB Kong = 7 BPs
And last but not least, there is the Carolina. The Carolina, as mentioned earlier in my review, has huge compartments. You can literally put a 6 pack of bottles into each side compartment and fully zip it closed. Now, I wouldn’t necessarily condone this as that’s a lot of beverages for one round of golf, it puts a large strain on the zipper, not to mention your back. But, if you wanted to carry a 12 pack of bottles, you could do it with this bag. On the same note, you could get 7 cans to a pocket without too much effort, maybe even more if you got creative. The fact that you CAN carry a 12 pack if you want, but can carry a 6 pack and still have plenty of room left over for other things put this bag easily ahead of the pack on the Bronson Scale.
Revo Carolina = 10 BPs

Good Reviews. Any chance of getting a comparison of storage space between a Kong and an Innova Discarrier?
TimC @ 11:51 am
I’m not planning on going out and getting a Discarrier, but I’d test one out if it were sent to me.
I’ve seen others with the Discarrier though, and just speculating on my observations, I think the Discarrier may have SLIGHTLY more space than the Kong. I think you can squeeze a couple more discs in the main compartment, and there might be a bit more room in the pockets. There probably isn’t that much more space though, while the Discarrier has more pockets, the Kong’s few pockets are a lot bigger than they appear at first glance.
